Heart attack at 40. I was running a pub that had just won 3AW Pub of the Year. Eighteen hour days. Managing everything. Performing completely fine.
After the pub I moved into corporate training and then owned and ran a real estate business for 11 years — building a team, managing the operation, carrying the weight of ownership every single day while performing as though everything was completely under control. And in my late forties — depression and major anxiety that I didn't tell almost anyone about. In my early fifties — rheumatoid arthritis. Seemingly overnight. Except it wasn't overnight. It was decades of sustained stress, sustained suppression, sustained over-functioning.
Three health events. All inflammatory. All driven by the same pattern — a man who had learned to perform strength and never learned to actually feel it.
I didn't ask for help because I was afraid of what it would mean about me if I did. Afraid of being seen as weak. Afraid of losing the version of myself that people respected.
I built this program for the man I was before all of that happened. The man who needed this work — but would never have walked through a door that announced he needed it.
